About Panama Altieri Caturra Washed
Arrived very end of October 2026 by airfreight, new crop, in Grainpro lined bags. As most top producers in Panama have turned their sights toward growing Geisha and other exotic varieties, and with enormous worldwide demand for their coffee, it has gotten harder and harder to find good, solid traditional varieties. Couple that with the overall and substantial reduction in this year's crop size from Panama, and we consider ourselves fortunate to have this "value" coffee from a top producer.

Roger Pitti, the coffee manager at Altieri Coffee
To be sure, Altieri has become one of the most coveted coffee growers in the Panama Highlands. They have two farms in Boquete. The highest elevation farm called Mima reaches over 2,000 meters and mainly produces competition level Geisha. Watch for our very limited offerings of a couple of such lots in the coming weeks. At a somewhat lower altitude, at roughly 1,400 meters is their original property, Pipim. It houses their mill, offices, espresso bar and visitor lounge where international cuppers come to evaluate their lots. On this gorgeous property sit their fields of Caturra, vibrant and healthy.

Cup Characteristics: A nice clean, sweet and enjoyable everyday washed coffee. Transparent flavors of stone fruit such as peach and nectarine. There is some sugar browning in the background adding complexity to the cup. In today's market, this coffee is a value and it is versatile.
Roasting Notes: Preferred roasting range is City+ to Full City, but it is a decent candidate for dark roasting, if you must. The delicate qualities will be present throughout this range, with lighter variations highlighting piquancy and citrus notes. Full City will enhance body.
