How to choose the best shipper for your location

We use only USPS Priority Mail and FedEx. All coffee and most items are shipped from Branford, CT. and we are interested in having your packages arrive as quickly and economically as possible. When an item is offered with free ground shipping we will select either FedEx Ground / Home service or USPS Priiorty Mail, whichever we deem best. For all other products choose the method best for you based on the following criteria:

Roastmasters Special Flat Rate

We now offer a flat rate for shipping green coffee. This rate is available throughout the Continental US only.

  • Up to 20 pounds $9.99
  • 21 to 40 pounds $14.99
  • 41 to 60 pounds $21.99

Will ship via FedEx Ground (or Home) depending upon shipping address. In some areas we will ship via USPS Priority, at our option, if it will get a shipment to you quicker and more cost effectively. Some other items may qualify for this special rate, such as coffee bags and, in general, smaller light weight products, which may be combined with unroasted coffee. If you purchase a free shipping item and want to order additional unroasted coffee, please place a separate order to qualify for this special rate.

FedEx

FedEx Ground or Home is often the best choice within the immediate 9 states from where we ship in Connecticut where rates are good and ground delivery is generally next day. FedEx ground is a surface transit service and delivers to bona fide business addresses Monday through Friday. FedEx Home is a surface transit service that includes a surcharge for deliveries to residential addresses; this service makes deliveries Tuesday through Saturday. They have excellent package tracking, providing detail of your shipment's progress as it heads your way. FedEx cannot deliver to a post office box. We also offer expedited FedEx services if you are in a rush (see below).

Unless you are logged in to your account and shipping to a bona fide commercial location, shipping rates defer to FedEx residential rate which includes the residential surcharge. FedEx cannot accept orders shipped to post office boxes. If special shipping arrangements are required please contact us.

FedEx delivers Monday through Friday to commercial and Tuesday through Saturday to residential.

  • Ground / Home Service - Next day delivery guaranteed within our surrounding states (see FedEx delivery map below). Since the packages are transported via trucks the further the distance you are from us the longer it will take to arrive. USPS Priority Mail is a good alternate if your destination is beyond 2 or 3 days. Often, FedEx ground is the the best choice if you live in a nearby state.

FedEx Air Shipping - is only offered for areas where available from our shipping point. We do not offer it if ground service will be as quick.

  • FedEx Standard Overnight - Next-business-day delivery by 3 p.m. to most U.S. addresses; by 4:30 p.m. to rural areas. Available throughout all 50 states to addresses where FedEx Priority Overnight delivery commitment is by 10:30 a.m. or noon (Hawaii service is outbound only).
  • FedEx Express Saver (3 day service) - Delivery to businesses by 4:30 p.m. and to residences by 7 p.m. in 3 business days. Available throughout all states except Alaska and Hawaii.
  • FedEx 2Day - Guaranteed delivery by air to all 50 states. Delivery by 4:30 p.m. in 2 business days to most areas (by 7 p.m. to residences). Not offered in our surrounding states where FedEx Ground/Home guarantees next day delivery.

-- U.S. Postal Service (USPS) Priority Mail:

  • Offers excellent rates if you are in the western US or live in an area that FedEx considers rural zip code.
  • Delivery is usually 2 or 3 days no matter where you are located in the US.
  • Deliveries are 6 days a week: Monday through Saturday. Yes, Saturday deliveries.
  • Important Note: USPS has a special Priority Mail Flat Rate. The Medium Flat Rate box holds up to 12 pounds of unroasted coffee and the shipping rate is $12.40 to anywhere in the country. The Large Flat Rate box holds up to 16 pounds of unroasted coffee and costs $17.05. When you buy 3 to 16 pounds of coffee and, you reside in a state where either shipping rate will be a benefit, you will see the best option in addition to regular Priority Mail. Choose the one that costs least as the service and delivery times are the same. This is a quick, cost effective option if you are outside of our area. But now, with the advent of our FedEx Roastmasters Flat Rate you will like not find a better deal with USPS.
  • Lacks the tracking detail and default $100 package insurance included with FedEx. USPS confirms pickup and delivery but has no tracking in between.
