Arrived July 2009, new crop. Fair Trade and organic. Several coffees from Prodecoop have made it into the final rounds of the Nicaragua Cup of Excellence. PRODECOOP, RL is a cooperative organization which brings together 39 individual cooperatives with a base of more than 2,300 small producers, 30% are women. Producers are located in different communities and coffee areas of the departments of Esteli, Madriz and Nueva Segovia, north of Nicaragua. The cooperative was established in 1993 to provide assistance to its members’ families in sustainable production and the marketing of their coffee. With revenue from its Fair Trade sales, PRODECOOP supports many social and quality control programs, including marketing, cooperative development, which includes technical support, training, credit, improvement of coffee quality and social projects. PRODECOOP is a cooperative organization certified; 100% of partners are working with Fair Trade. On average the coop exports 30,000 sacks of coffee, of which nearly half of the total volume is organic. Long finish. Fragrant earthy aroma. Roasting Notes: This high grown coffee can run the range of C+ through FC and perhaps just slightly beyond.
