Bonavita coffee maker

Hi.
Just received a Bonavita coffee maker. I noticed when cleaning the unit after using it for the first time that a small slug of water remained in the tube the water travels through. Is this normal? How much water gets left behind? Suppose it's insignificant when making a full pot, but could throw off proportions when making a smaller amount.

To answer my own question, after brewing about 1 1/2 oz of water remains in the tubing the water travels through from the water tank to the shower head.
